The LEA Volleyball Club organizes leagues, tournaments, & free play at NASA Langley.
It maintains the equipment, coordinates referees, awards season prizes, & settles rule disputes.
Leagues:
The NASA volleyball leagues are coed and divided into
C, CC, B, BB, doubles, and open. League formation is
dependent on participation. The leagues run from the
very beginner to the very experienced. Indoor leagues,
except open, are refereed. Each league plays once a week
and a player may participate in multiple leagues.
Location:
The league is based at NASA Langley. Spring and fall volleyball seasons are played indoors at the gymnasium. The summer volleyball season is played outdoors, in the grass area next to the tennis wall and on the field in front of the library.
Times:
Spring season runs from mid-March to the end of May. Summer season begins at the end of the Spring season and runs until mid-August. Fall season begins shortly thereafter and
runs until the beginning of November. Free play is year-round on Fridays from 6:30pm to 9:00pm and from 10:30am to 1:00pm on Sunday mornings. Location of free play is
seasonal and up to the participants but it usually follows where the current season is played.
Fees:
The current indoor and outdoor registration fees are $140. Open is $50 and Doubles are $25. These fees pay for equipment maintenance, referees, season and tournament prizes, and a yearly picnic. Seasonally custom designed t-shirts can be ordered as well.
