Office YOGA
Meet Joanne Edmonds, who says “Use Office Yoga as a way to springboard into healthier activities and join the Fitness Center to continue finding the benefits of exercise.” A class can be conducted at the worksite for small groups. Please call the Fitness Center at 864-6387 for more information or to schedule a session for your office. Working in an office or at a computer for prolonged periods of time can put strain on the neck, shoulder and back muscles which can, in turn, lead to tension and stiffness. This tension could cause headaches, as well as back, neck and shoulder pain. If left unattended it could also impact your ability to function effectively at work and your overall quality of life. Simple techniques such as Office Yoga may help alleviate the pain and other symptoms by releasing tension and increasing muscle strength and flexibility. |

Benefits of Yogo May Include:
|
Try It Out! Neck Twist at Your Desk Sit upright with the neck slightly extended (without effort). Make sure that the shoulders stay relatively relaxed and turn the head slowly to the left. Extreme effort is not needed, but watch as the stretch accommodates and gently increase the twist as it becomes comfortable. Awareness again should be on the stretch - breathe normally. Return slowly to center after a count of around 15-20 and repeat on the other side. |
