LaRC Exchange Activities - Volleyball Club

 
 

The LEA Volleyball Club organizes leagues, tournaments, and free play at NASA Langley. It maintains the equipment, coordinates referees, awards season prizes, and settles rule disputes.

Leagues:

The NASA volleyball leagues are coed and divided into C, CC, B, BB, doubles, and open. League formation is dependent on participation. The leagues run from the very beginner to very experienced. Indoor leagues are played in sixes and outdoor is in fours. Open league varies. Indoor leagues, except open, are reffed. Each league plays once a week and a player may participate in multiple leagues.

Location:

The league is based at NASA Langley. Spring and Fall volleyball seasons are played indoor at the gymnasium. The summer volleyball season is played outdoor, in the grass area next to the tennis wall and for more courts, in the field in front of the library.

Times:

Spring season runs from mid March to the end of May. Summer season begins at the end of the spring season and runs until mid August. Fall season begins shortly thereafter and runs till the beginning of November. Free play is year-round from 6:30p to 9p Friday evenings and from 10:30a to 1p Sunday mornings. Location of free play is seasonal and up to the participants but it usually follows where the current season is played.

Fees:

The current indoor and outdoor 6's registration fee is $140. Open is $50 and Doubles are $25. These fees pay for equipment maintenance, referees, season and tournament prizes, and a yearly picnic. Seasonally custom designed t-shirts have been the prize and can be ordered as well.
